Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Duration: Permanent
Hours: 40 per week (Full Time Position).
Work Pattern: Working a 3-week rotating shift system, Monday to Friday with 30 minutes unpaid break.
– Shift A: 08:00 to 16:30 (Engineer working on Shift A will be required to participate in an on-call rota, covering approximately 3 weekends over a 12 week period**)
– Shift B: 14:00 – 22:30
– Shift C: 21:30 to 06:00
** Call-out times: Saturday 06:00 to 18:00 and Sunday 18:00 to 06:00 (Monday)
Salary/Rate: £45,313.00

We are the largest paper sack producer in the United Kingdom and one of the major sack producers in Europe supplying the agriculture, flour, cement/building products, minerals and food industries.

We are based near Pocklington, East Yorkshire, YO41 1HS, (5 miles from Pocklington, 13 miles from York). Due to call out responsibilities we are looking for applicants who live within a 20 mile radius of the site.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our existing team.

Qualifications required:
Qualifications in mechanical engineering
Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and operation of all factory machines
Good practical mechanical ability; and ability to work under minimum supervision

The job involves:
Routine setting up and maintenance of sewing machines and tables
Repair of sewing machines as required
Repair, maintain, and attend breakdowns of all plant and machinery, including building maintenance, and any other work allocated by the Engineering Manager, Technical Engineering, Operations and Production Directors
Assist with the with the upgrade of equipment and installation of new equipment
Complete hot work permits to ensure this work is undertaken in a safe manner
Ensure maintenance activities are controlled and do not pose a risk of cross contamination
Undertake call-outs as scheduled by the Technical Engineering Director
Maintain daily work records
Ensuring all safe working procedures/instructions are followed at all times whilst performing maintenance and repair work
Ensure all waste is correctly segregated and disposed of in the appropriate waste container.
To carry out daily maintenance, calibration and repairs of the Treatment Plant (training will be given), as scheduled and directed by the Engineering Manager/Technical Engineering Director
Awareness and adherence to the Company’s, Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental Policies and Procedures
Strict adherence of the Company Hygiene Policy and Procedure

The candidate would ideally meet the following criteria:
Have experience of production machinery
Have experience of paper converting machines (preferred but not essential)
Be positive & flexible
Commitment to product, quality & safety
Able to work as a team and independently
Hold a current UK driving licence
