Update to EU’s Deforestation Laws

EU Deforestation Laws have been postponed for 12 months.

The European Parliament have announced the delay on the implementation of the EU’s regulation EUDR (EU’s Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products) by 12 months. This gives the EU Market one more year to comply.

EUDR, originally announced in June 2023, aims to ensure products sold in the EU are not sourced from deforested land. There is expected to be a transition period to comply with the regulations.

Concerns were raised that some companies would not be able to fully comply by the initial agreed date of December 2024, therefore the application date has been postponed by one year.

East Riding Sacks are already working with suppliers to responsibly source all the paper products from well managed and sustainable forests. We ensure:

·      No illegal logging or trade in illegal wood / forest products exists in our supply chain.
·      The destruction of high conservation values in forestry operations is avoided.
·      All import / export customs laws for woodland products are adhered to.
·      Forests are not converted to plantations or non-forest operations.
